Our Outdoor Area
South Portland boasts large playgrounds which are perfect for children to experience planting flowers, growing vegetables, and building with loose parts that come from nature like stumps, sticks, and stones. The wetland around the building is home to tadpoles, frogs, and a variety of plant life that teachers can bring into the classrooms and play yards for more nature exposure. The building is located a short walk from Wainwright Fields and is a place children love to visit with their teachers during the year for special activities and nature play!

South Portland Toddle Inn was love at first sight. Our son was drawn to Ms. Erin at the open house and after exploring the building with its spacious rooms and gym, we were immediately confident that our son would be loved and engaged, but also provided the consistency of structure needed to help him maintain his good behaviors. Six months later, we continue to be pleased with our decision and pleasantly surprised at all the creativity and care that the teachers of Toddle Inn South Portland bring to the kids each and every day. My wife is a teacher of eight years and has remarked many times on the quality of Toddle Inn staff and how impressed she is by staff’s diligence to education, making each day fun and engaging the kids in ways in which provide healthy structure.

Transitioning our son to daycare was a tough decision for my wife and me, especially when he was just six months old. Those first few drop-offs at The Toddle Inn South Portland were heartbreaking, but the staff made the process so much easier for us. What truly stands out about The Toddle Inn is how much the team genuinely cares about the happiness and well-being of the children. It’s clear that this isn’t just a job for them—they’re invested in the kids they care for. After just a month, our son’s excitement was unmistakable. As soon as we approached the doors, he would light up and shake with joy. That was all the reassurance we needed to know he felt safe, happy, and loved. Now, at 18 months old, he confidently marches through the doors, heads straight to his classroom to see his friends, and drop-off is a breeze. The Toddle Inn has been incredibly organized, communicative, and nurturing, playing a crucial role in our child’s growth and development. We are grateful to have found such a wonderful place for him to thrive.Show Less

Toddle Inn has been such a blessing for my family. Being a single parent, I am beyond grateful to know my two girls are in a safe and loving daycare everyday. Yes, the hours and location are very convenient, but it’s more the staff and environment that are the most important feature for me. The teachers are more like family– when I ask my almost three-year-old who she is excited to see at school that day, she first lists all the teachers’ names before listing her classmates/friends. And at the end of the day, we are often the last family out because the girls just want to stay and play and visit with the various teachers in other rooms. The staff has shown genuine interest in my girl’s wellbeing and development as well, communicating with me regularly and actively engaging with their CDS support services who visit. I could not ask for better daycare experience.

Show LessI’ve had the opportunity to work with all of the Toddle Inn locations in southern Maine over the past several years as a speech language pathologist going into these programs to evaluate children to help determine the need for services. I am continuously impressed with the knowledge of both teachers and directors, along with their tireless advocacy for each and every child in their program. The teachers and administrators ask great questions and work hard to carry over each suggestion that is given. They are eager to gain more insight and knowledge about ways to promote communication development both for children who are delayed and for continued language growth for others. Research shows that the preschool years are critically formative in helping children grow into happy and productive adults and our communities are lucky to have Toddle Inn providing such quality childcare.
